Chapter 2 – Going in

My boss whose name is David instructed me and two of my team-mates to take a Spiflyer which is a type of flying vehicle we use on Venus as it is too made of Crufax. Apparently there was a breach in a nearby resource silo, so we had to go there and to catch the robber. The names of my team-mates were Jack and Rick.
Spiflyer was a very effective and fast type of transport and was used mostly in V.E.N.U.S. force in order for military units to be able to get to the crime scene in time. We had to be careful though not to fly too high in the sky as there are very strong winds at high altitude.
Each of V.E.N.U.S. units was special at a particular weapon. Here on Venus we also had different weapons to the ones we used to have on Earth. I will describe each one as the story proceeds. My weapon was a supersonic shotgun, or SSS for short. SSSs shoot Crufax-made pellets at supersonic speeds, hence its name. It was the best type of shotgun at that time. Both of my team-mates though used to use V-blast submachine gun, or V SMG for short. Those submachine guns also used Crufax-made ammo, in fact ammunition for all of the weapons was made of Crufax. Before we moved to Venus, Crufax was still widely used, especially in making armour for tanks as it is very tough to pierce. All of the V.E.N.U.S. members also must carry a V-blast handgun as a secondary weapon. V handgun or V pistol for short.
The flight lasted only for about 10 minutes and our Spiflyer landed successfully, despite the tough hills. Spiflyer was also good because it could land on almost any terrain. Jack, Rick and me blown our crufacles to the full-form and exited our Spiflyer. Our pilot, Alan, said that he would wait for us exactly where he dropped us off.
Three of us began jogging towards the resource silo. Even though our crufacles had an amazing inner cooling system, I could still feel the heat of the air. This dome was rather big for resource silo. I’ve never seen a resource silo this big.
The staff allowed us to go in through the front door. There were very little people working in resource silos as all they had to do was two things: guard it and to deliver resources when they are ordered. Those people usually were very good at their job, but now it seems that someone have managed to fool them and to get in without them noticing it. It was an electronic alarm that gave away thief’s position. We were told that the thief was still inside, but I doubted that because if someone managed to get in unnoticed then he/she can get out just as unnoticed.
Jack, Rick and me began looking on the first floor. We could finally compress our crufacles and then split up along the corridor and said that we will meet up by the North side stairs. David sent us an electronic map of the place, so we knew vaguely where North side stairs would be.
I was walking along the dimly-lit corridor. The quietness of the place was scary. I was glad that I was a relatively brave man. This is one of the reasons why I joined V.E.N.U.S. – I was brave enough to go against any type of danger as long as I knew it will save lives and will benefit mankind. There were no sounds absolutely. The corridor was dead.
When I reached the end of this dead corridor Jack and Rick joined me and all three of us went to the 1st floor up the stairs.
